Inspiration
During the ongoing world Covid 19 pandemic of 2020 and a complete lockdown in England during the Springtime, time gave way to opportunity as Amanda walked across the open fields, the rolling hills and along the peaceful riverbanks of the Isis, that ancient river, now known as the Thames which gives life to the Oxfordshire countryside, down through the green valleys, all the way to London and out to the North Sea.
Amanda drank in the magnificent beauty of the English countryside in all it’s glory, the glowing sunshine and bright blue skies that became a blessing during these unusual days of isolation and anxious uncertainty. She became the present moment, her eyes wide open, observing the environment and accordingly, the healing wonder of nature.
A Mindful Alphabet unfolded.
The illustrations were conceived as she roamed and collected fallen leaves, flowers and interesting fauna on the pathways that lay before her. The words to the book arrived as she walked. She was silent, alone, and drew on resources from many years experience as an emotional well-being therapist.
Artworks created on scraps of paper. Odd paint and pens found in her home. Other than online shopping, most shops were closed. Only food stores were open with limited stocks of essential items and reduced entrance, due to social distancing. Face masks and gloves are worn for protection. For Amanda this became a time for reflection and change. An unnerving experience for many but a time to assess the importance of life and love.
A Mindful Alphabet was born to ignite self confidence and encourage self-love for all people, looking for extra support and personal guidance in their lives.
