A-Z Book of Mindful Words.
World Lockdown Spring 2020: an unusual time in history.
These unprecedented times inspired Amanda Weait to create through illustration and writing;
A Mindful Alphabet.
It is a book of beautiful imagery accompanied by mindful words and positive affirmations which correspond to each letter of the English Alphabet.
Its aim is to be a self-help guide to mindful healing and personal meditation.
“Acorn, acer, berry, blossom, bluebell, buttercup, corn, cowslip, daisy, dandelion, grass, ivy, lavender, nettle, oak, poppy, rose, thistle, wisteria... a tiny fraction of the springtime blooms. Enveloping the sweeping fields and woodlands of England in 2020, during the world lockdown. ”
At this time in history, when it is needed more than ever to build a positive relationship with yourself, with so many people spending weeks and months isolated with limited physical contact with friends and family. Initially all travel was forbidden. Schools, shops, galleries, theatres, sports centres, lidos, restaurants, all closed. Everyday society, normally buzzing with life became eerily quiet, still, empty and silent.
These strange days became a gift to many, which created an opportunity to look inwards. Perhaps an appreciation of a united conciousness, a time to be kind to ourselves and others and question the meaning of existence. It was this that inspired Amanda Weait to write the mindful words of guidance and self love to help remind us all of how blessed we are to be alive. A time to relate and empathise, to share love and positivity. Her illustrations and words are collated together in A Mindful Alphabet with the aim to bring about joy and optimism.
